On August 25th, a joint collaboration between BRGM, ISOR, HS ORKA and KIT has successfully completed a repeat active electromagnetic survey over the Reykjanes geothermal reservoir to monitor and image the reservoir development after the stimulation of the RN15/DEEPEGS/IDDP2 well. The technique is called Controlled-Source Electro-Magnetic (or CSEM) and uses a powerful grounded electric transmitter to image 3D electrical resistivity variations, parameter highly sensitive the presence of fluids, the porosity and degree of alteration of a rock. Time-lapse processing is ongoing but preliminary results show that the repeatability is good between this survey and the baseline survey performed in September 2016, prior to the stimulation of DEEPEGS/IDDP2.
