The successful 5th edition of the European Geothermal Workshop (EGW) was held, between 11th and 14th of October, at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT, Germany). This joint Horizon 2020 event of the DEEPEGS and DESTRESS projects brought more than 150 young and experienced scientists, and industry representatives from 12 countries together to discuss and exchange their works and results in a friendly atmosphere.
The event started with the field visit of the Soultz and Rittershoffen deep geothermal sites (Alsace, France). During the two following days, 33 oral presentations were given, 44 posters were presented, and a panel discussion between representatives of the geothermal industry and mining authorities from France and Germany, and the audience took place. Works carried out in the frame of the DEEPEGS and DESTRESS projects could be presented and the associated results were shown and discussed. The feedback from all participants was very positive.
