The IDDP-2 / DEEPEGS team conduct gas sampling for tracers at the Reykjanes site
On December 9th a gas tracer was injected into IDDP-2. Currently, samples are being collected from production wells at Reykjanes three times per week in order to monitor the returns of the tracer. The sampling will be ongoing for the next several weeks.
The purpose of the tracer test is to explore whether there is a connection between the current production zone at Reykjanes and the deep zone IDDP-2 will be tapping into. If the tracer is detected in the sampled production wells, it can be determined that there is a connection below 3000 m to the current production zone above.
